Theoretical t-z Curves for Axially Loaded Piles

چکیده

Estimation of nonlinear pile settlement can be simplified using one-dimensional “t-z” curves that conveniently divide the soil into multiple horizontal “slices.” This simplification reduces continuum analysis to a two-point boundary-value problem Winkler type, which tackled by standard numerical procedures. Theoretical established “shearing-of-concentric-cylinders” theory Cooke and Randolph-Wroth, involves two main elements: (1) constitutive model cast in flexibility form, γ=γ(τ); (2) an attenuation function shear stress with radial distance from pile, τ=τ(r). Soil then determined integrating strains over coordinate, often leads closed-form solutions. Despite simplicity physical appeal method, only few theoretical are available literature. paper introduces three novel functions for stresses, inspired solutions, employed conjunction eight models leading set 32 curves. Illustrative examples calculation types presented demonstrate application method.

prediction of ultimate bearing capacity of axially loaded piles using a support vector machine

bearing capacity prediction of axially loaded piles is one of the most important problems in geotechnical engineering practices, with a wide variety range of methods which have been introduced to forecast it accurately. machine learning methods have been reported by many contemporary researches with some degree of success in modeling geotechnical phenomena. in this study, a fairly new machine l...

Laterally loaded rigid piles in cohesionless soil

In this paper, limiting force profile for laterally loaded rigid piles in sand and is differentiated from the on-pile force profile, from which elastic-plastic solutions are established and presented in explicity expressioins. Nonlinear responses of the piles are characterized by slip depths mobilized from mudline and the pile-tip. At the states of tip-yield and rotation point yield, expression...

Development of p-y Curves of Laterally Loaded Piles in Cohesionless Soil

The research on damages of structures that are supported by deep foundations has been quite intensive in the past decade. Kinematic interaction in soil-pile interaction is evaluated based on the p-y curve approach. Existing p-y curves have considered the effects of relative density on soil-pile interaction in sandy soil. The roughness influence of the surface wall pile on p-y curves has not bee...

Imperfection-Insensitive Axially Loaded Cylindrical Shells

The high efficiency of monocoque cylindrical shells in carrying axial loads is curtailed by their extreme sensitivity to imperfections. For practical applications, this issue has been alleviated by introducing closely stiffened shells which, however, require expensive manufacturing. Here we present an alternative approach that provides a fundamentally different solution. We design symmetry-brea...
